Postdoctoral Fellowship in Jainism

The Department of Religious Studies has opened a search for a candidate for the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Jain Studies. This fellowship is designed to support outstanding early-career scholars working on Jainism. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to research, teaching, and academic programming in Jain Studies and will participate actively in the intellectual life of the department. The fellowship has been made possible through the generous support of Dr. Jasvant Modi and Mr. Swatantra Jain.

What do you need?

  • Cover letter outlining research interests and fit with the fellowship
  • Writing sample (article or dissertation chapter)
  • Two or three letters of recommendation
  • A research proposal (2-4 pages) describing the proposed postdoctoral project
  • Curriculum vitae

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  1. Hold a PhD in Religious Studies, South Asian Studies, Philosophy, History, or a related field with the focus on Jainism by the start of the fellowship.
  2. Demonstrate a strong research focus on Jainism.
  3. Show evidence of scholarly excellence and potential for significant contributions to the field.
