How They Are Awarded
Universities offer two types of student aid. The first is need based and awarded because of the need of a student or a student’s family for financial assistance to afford the cost of tuition and fees. The second type is merit based and awarded because of the academic achievement of a student as indicated in their transcripts and personal statement outlining their goals and purpose for their program of study. TAships are in the second category of award.
What They Cover
TAships cover the full cost of tuition for full-time graduate study at FIU. They also provide a stipend of $9,000, of which half is given in the fall and half in the spring semesters. TAships have a limit of two years of study.
